"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
In the deepest stretch of winter, the soul naturally longs for a slower pace—a sanctuary to simply be, away from the constant noise, screens, and demands of a busy world.
You are warmly invited to Sheltered, an intimate mid-winter retreat at the beautiful Te Waiora House in Hororata. This weekend is a dedicated space of Christian hospitality, a gentle winter sabbath designed to replenish your spirit, rest your body, and restore your heart.
Anchored in the beautiful concept of hygge—the practice of presence, warmth, and simple comfort—we will step across the threshold into a screen-free sanctuary of slow living.
What Awaits You:
Rest & Replenishment: Generous space for quiet reflection, individual rest, deep sleep, and personal prayer.|
Warmth & Fellowship: Gentle, unhurried group connection around a roaring open fire, sharing companionable silence and thoughtful conversation.
Nature & Creativity: Fresh winter air, peaceful guided sensory walks through God’s creation, and space for tactile, creative crafting to slow the mind.
Good Food: Bountiful, slow-cooked, nourishing meals and warm fireside drinks shared around the table by candlelight.
Whether you are navigating a demanding season, looking to reconnect with the quiet voice of the Spirit, or simply needing a space to lay your burdens down, come and find shelter here. Let the winter be a season where your inner ground is gently tended.
