Our Retreat
co-ordinators and hosts
At Te Waiora House, we are grateful to have a small team of resident Retreat Coordinators/Hosts who help bring warmth, care, and a sense of welcome to all who stay with us.
Working alongside Baptist Resources, Carron, Oreen and Bereel help host groups, support retreat leaders, and create space for rest, reflection, and renewal. Whether you’re visiting as part of a group or simply taking time out, they are here to ensure you feel settled, supported, and at home.
Our coordinators live on site, and are there to offer a gentle and reassuring presence throughout your stay. They are available to support you as needed, while also respecting the rhythm and space of your retreat, meaning they can be as involved or as unobtrusive as you’d like.
Each of them brings their own unique experience, gifts, and sense of calling to Te Waiora. Read about each of them below and see how you might like to make use of their heart, skills, and expertise during your next retreat.
Oreen & Bereel
Oreen and Bereel have been journeying through life together for over three decades, sharing a deep faith and a heart for people. Their life has taken them across continents, where they have served in a variety of contexts and built rich, multicultural relationships along the way.
With a strong sense of calling, they established a Children’s Home in India, creating a place of belonging for orphaned children. This experience continues to shape their compassion, hospitality, and care for others.
At Te Waiora, they offer a gentle pastoral presence, creating space for people to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with God. Their heart is to see individuals, families, and those in ministry find rest, encouragement, and renewal.
They also bring a love for everyday life, from cooking and gardening to evening prayer walks and time spent with family.
Carron
Carron brings a deep passion for pastoral care and creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and at ease.
She is actively involved in hosting and supporting groups at Te Waiora and enjoys facilitating creative and reflective workshops, including writing and journaling. She is also currently training as a Spiritual Director.
Carron’s life journey has included years of travel across New Zealand and Australia, and through both joy and grief, she has developed a deep empathy for the stories people carry.
Her heart is to offer a place of welcome, where guests can rest, reflect, and return to everyday life refreshed.
